Kwek-kwek / Tukneneng, a pinoy delicacy!

This is made out of quail eggs, orange flour batter with vinegar as dipping sauce. This is a popular street food in the Philippines.

To make this you'll need the following ingredients:
  • 1 dozen peeled hard boiled quail eggs (or chicken eggs)

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1/2 cup water

  • few drops of food coloring (orange?)

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • cooking oil

  • Cooking instruction:
  • Put the quail eggs in a clean plastic bag/zip lock, with 1/4 cup flour.

  • Shake em until eggs are evenly coated.

  • Mix all remaining ingredients except cooking oil.

  • Use a wire whisk or fork, mix it to a smooth batter.

  • Dump those little eggs to the batter.

  • Put enough cooking oil for deep frying in a shallow pan. heat it.

  • Spoon out those eggs from the batter and chuck it in the hot cooking oil.

  • Wait till it cooks, about a minute or so. until the coating is crispy.

Day Sixty Six - March Nine

I've been seeing pictures of this ice cream all over my facebook wall. Curiosity got me so I went out to buy one!

I bought Php 100.00, thinking it was only around Php 30.00. I went to Shell's Select and they've got the 3 flavors: Origina, Chocolate Truffle & Almond! So I got the Chocolate Truffle and the Almond. I was about to pay for it (plus my kid's lollipop), I asked the cashier how much does one cost. To my surprise, it's Php 65 each!!! Hahaha, that's way to expensive for just an ice cream bar! What the heck, I just want to try one just to satisfy my curiosity.

Verdict: Too creamy and sweet!!! NOT MY KIND OF ICE CREAM.. Never again!

(Thinking: Maybe the Almond tastes better. Hahahaha!)
